Copy-and-paste on Windows says goodbye to its historical flaw

If a keyboard shortcut exists to clean a copied text of all formatting, it is unfortunately not available on all media under Windows. A problem corrected by Microsoft PowerToys, as reported by our colleagues from 01Net. The Open source project, available to download for free, helps to add new features to the Windows operating system and an option to copy and paste without formatting is coming. A major news alongside the replacement of the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

It is called “PastePlain” in English, and is added to the utility to end the problem of copying and pasting under Windows. Until now, users might use the shortcut Ctrl+Maj+V instead of Ctrl+V to not have a text in the font of the initial source – or any other unwanted formatting tag – but the latter did not work on many supports such as the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). For them, it was necessary to redouble tricks such as copying and pasting the text in Notepad or right-clicking and selecting “Keep text only”.

Publishers, who use online publishing tools, students or anyone who is used to writing emails knew the problem and will therefore be able to download the latest version of Microsoft’s PowerToys. Once installed, the software will offer you a new keyboard shortcut, functional everywhere: Ctrl+Windows+Vto paste the text in its raw format, without formatting.

Thanks to its presence in the taskbar, the utility is accessible anytime so that you can easily activate or deactivate one of its features, such as this copy-paste tool. Other tools have become popular since the arrival of the new PowerToys on Windows, such as a tool to quickly resize photos, by simply right-clicking. Another tool, to save time, allows you to preview the contents of files without clicking on them. Finally, always for a question of time optimization, a tool for extracting text from photos is available.
