It is a farewell to the place where she experienced the greatest happiness and the deepest pain.
Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono (90) is leaving the “Dakota Building” in New York 50 years following they moved into a 9-room apartment (7th floor). In front of the legendary building, ex-Beatle John Lennon († 40) was fatally hit by four bullets in 1980.
At times, the couple owned five apartments in the world-famous building, which was occupied by stars such as Lauren Bacall († 89) and Jack Lemmon († 76). Polanski’s cult horror film Rosemary’s Baby was filmed there in 1968
Now, on her 90th birthday (February 18), the widow is giving herself a peaceful old age in the countryside: on her Lennon farm near Franklin (approx. 280 residents)!
The 243-hectare farm, which the couple bought in 1978 as an oasis of calm (including herd of cattle) is a three-hour drive (250 km) northwest of the Big Apple (for around 175,000 euros).
According to the Daily Mail, Ono wants to stay there permanently! She had already spent a lot of time on the farm during the corona pandemic, her son Sean (47, musician) lives on the premises with girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhl (35, musician) on their own property.
An important support for the artist. She has suffered from muscle weakness for years, is in a wheelchair and needs around-the-clock care, according to the New York Post. But your zest for life remains unbroken!
Ono’s longtime press agent Elliot Mintz (77, friend since 1971) visited her on the farm for her 90th: “There was carrot cake, lots of music and lots of laughter. We also want to celebrate the 91st here!”
Yoko Ono loves plants, music and peace – although many Beatles fans still blame Yoko Ono for the breakup of the band (1970)! She is said to have taken over John Lennon and remained connected to him following death: “Sometimes I see his spirit at the white piano…”
That’s what the Beatles killer does today
December 8, 1980 shocked the world: Mark Chapman (then 25) fired five bullets at John Lennon in front of the Dakota complex. Four scored. The Beatle screamed: “I’m shot” (“I’m shot”), later died from severe blood loss. Chapman’s sentence: life imprisonment. In 2024 he can submit a clemency petition for the 13th time.
