It was around 10 p.m. when the Huy police received a call from three witnesses informing them that they had just seen a man jump into the Meuse from the Europe bridge. Divers from the Hemeco rescue zone were called to search for the person (a man according to a witness present at the scene).
Present in a TEC bus with two other witnesses, a woman testifies. “As the bus crossed the bridge, we saw a silhouette, that of a man, jump into the Meuse. I then called the police directly to warn them.”
The services of the Hemeco zone confirmed the information. “Our divers were dispatched to the scene and searched the bottom of the Meuse for an hour at the indicated location but found nothing. The body, if there is one, has undoubtedly moved. At present, it is impossible to know if there is indeed a man who threw himself into the Meuse or if it is just the impression that the witnesses had. will have to sonar the reported area in order to find the body.”
At present, the file is in progress and the police confirm that if no body has been found for the moment, that does not mean that the tragic event did not occur.
