Carinthian of the day: Alexander Kaimbacher likes to try new things

He has long since made a name for himself as a specialist in world premieres: “The exciting thing is getting involved with something new,” says Alexander Kaimbacher: “I have the 527th Spoletta in the ‘Tosca’ production from 1958 at the Vienna State Opera sung. Here in Klagenfurt I was the first job,” says the Villacher, who took on the title role in the world premiere at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt. What’s more: the composer Bernhard Lang wrote the opera for him, so to speak, and the tenor was his dream cast: “Of course it’s a special honor, but also a special challenge,” says the 53-year-old, who has long since played in all the big houses in the city might be heard in the German-speaking area – but has not been a Alex Reed at the Stadttheater since “Wozzek” and “Jedem das Seine” in 2007: “It just didn’t work out, my sister was the mayor of Klagenfurt during this time,” he says with a laugh. He now also lives in the house of Maria-Luise Mathiaschitz during his performances in Carinthia.
