In a new post on his Medium page, the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo brought the latest information and predictions regarding the infamous augmented/virtual reality headset from Apple — more precisely, regarding the already speculated second generation of the device, which might arrive in 2025.
According to Kuo, the second generation of the gadget will have two versions: one cutting edge and other input. This would explain the rumors that the future model of the headset might be cheap and also that it will still cost as much as a last generation Mac — since, in this way, the entry model can actually be more affordable compared to the top version. of line.
Also according to Kuo, the more expensive version will be developed and produced by Luxcaseict (one joint venture between Luxshare and Pegatron), while the entry version will be up to Foxconn. The analyst also said that Pegatron is gradually pulling out of Apple’s headset business in order to move its development team and production resources to Luxcaseict.
This will see Luxshare take over the development and production of the subsequent high-end version of the headset — a move that will lead to the “consequent acceleration of the reduction in the cost of the headset, which is what Apple expects”, as Kuo pointed out.
Regarding the first generation of the headset, the analyst posted on twitter that its forecast for the start of mass sales remains unchanged, but the likelihood of the device being launched at an alleged event in March/April is decreasing — as the likelihood of the headset launching alongside the “iPhone 15” in the third quarter of this year, “is increasing”.
