Nintendo confirmed this Friday (24) that it will not be present at E3 2023, one of the biggest events in the gaming industry that takes place from June 13 to 16 in Los Angeles, in the United States. In a statement sent to The Verge, the company explains that this year’s show “did not fit into their plans”.
“We approach our involvement in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always considering multiple ways to engage with our fans,” the statement reads. “As this year’s E3 show did not fit into our plans, we made the decision not to attend. However, we have been and remain a strong supporter of the ESA and E3,” he concludes.
The Japanese giant’s decision may also be followed by Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox, which have not yet confirmed their presence at the fair and may not attend this year. There is huge community anticipation for E3 2023 as this edition will be held in person rather than online.
It is worth remembering that Nintendo and Sony participated in the Brasil Game Show 2022, while Microsoft did not take any stand to highlight its latest generation consoles. Lance Festerman, president of ReedPop, organizer of E3, says that production is preparing many new features even with the absence of Nintendo.

E3 is historically one of the biggest events in the gaming industry, bringing together the biggest companies in the segment to present their news. The next edition is eagerly awaited, as it will be the first physical event in four years.
However, this return might disappoint many fans due to the absence of important brands such as Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox, according to sources obtained by IGN and VGC.

E3 2023 will take place from June 13 to 16, according to event organizer ReedPop, who took over from the Entertainment Software Association.
According to VCG sources familiar with Nintendo’s plans, the Japanese company has decided not to participate in E3 2023 because it has fewer launches this year. Traditionally, Nintendo is one of the biggest supporters of the event and was present at the last in-person event in 2019, when PlayStation and Xbox were not.
The absence of Sony Interactive Entertainment should not surprise anyone, since it did not participate in the last E3 in 2019 and did not intend to participate in the event in 2020, which ended up being canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, Microsoft has confirmed that it plans to present a presentation that is convenient for the press and its consumers at its own event around the same time, not making an appearance in the exhibit hall at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The decision is understandable, as the company faces a turbulent period with layoffs at the company, in addition to marketing budget cuts, directly impacting coverage of shows like E3.
