White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said on Friday that the White House believes Moscow may provide Iran with fighter jets and other military equipment in return for Iran’s broad support for Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Kirby told reporters that the United States has information that Iran shipped artillery and tanks to Russia in November, and that Russia is providing “unprecedented defense cooperation” in return, including missiles, electronics and combat aircraft, according to Archyde.com.

He added that Iran is also seeking to buy attack helicopters, radars and combat training aircraft.

On the ground, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced, on Friday, that the army had killed regarding 240 Ukrainian soldiers in eastern Ukraine. The ministry confirmed “the liquidation of more than 60 Ukrainian soldiers on the Kobyansk axis.”

The Russian Defense Ministry said it had “bombed Ukrainian forces along the front line in Donetsk,” the Ukrainian separatist.

On Friday, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov revealed that his country is preparing a counterattack once morest the Russian army, with the passage of one year since the start of the Russian attack on Ukraine.

“We will launch stronger and farther strikes, in the air, on land, at sea and in cyberspace. There will be a counterattack. We are working hard to prepare for it,” Reznikov wrote on Facebook.

While the NATO Secretary General considered that the victory of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the war is the greatest threat to the security of the NATO countries, noting that Finland and Sweden’s accession to NATO will enhance the security of Europe.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Russian-Ukrainian conflict has now turned into a “logistical battle”, so Ukraine’s allies need to increase weapons and ammunition production.

“NATO will stand by Ukraine no matter how long it takes, as we cannot allow Russian President Vladimir Putin to win in Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said in an exclusive statement to Britain’s Sky News on Thursday.

On whether Ukraine will be allowed to join the defensive military alliance, Stoltenberg replied, “NATO’s position has not changed. Ukraine will become a member of NATO, but the main focus now is to ensure that Ukraine is an independent and sovereign state in Europe.”
