Dr. Magdy Abdel Hamid, Professor and Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases at Kasr Al-Ainy Medicine, revealed that the latest study, which is called “ischemia”, is related to the treatment of chronic coronary artery insufficiency, and is catheter intervention better or drug therapy intervention, explaining that patients suffer from Chronic coronary artery insufficiency, chest pains such as angina pectoris occur to them, and the study proved that if the patient’s condition improves on treatment, he continues to take medication, and a stent is not installed for them using catheters as long as their condition improves with drug treatment.

He explained that these patients, the study showed that drug treatment is effective, and there is no difference between it and catheter intervention, as the patients were followed up for 7 years, and it became clear that some patients may benefit from Stent installationStressing that the stents prevent the occurrence of angina pectoris pain, but we must work to legalize the installation of stents and it is better to provide them for patients with acute heart attacks, which is called the “stent of life”, indicating that the study has proven that the patient must take treatment at the beginning and if he improves on treatment, he continues on treatment

He said that there is a role for anti-inflammatory drugs in improving chronic coronary artery insufficiency, explaining that preliminary results indicate the benefit of anti-inflammatory drugs, but the guidelines still have not added them to treatment, as there are specific drugs that target inflammation in the lining of the arteries, and prevent narrowing of the arteries. and reduce the incidence of blood clots.

He pointed out that patients with chronic coronary artery insufficiency should refrain from smoking, eat cholesterol-free foods, exercise, and follow a diet free of fat and cholesterol, while controlling the level of sugar, and that the cumulative sugar be less than 7%, and adjust the pressure so that it is less than 140 over 90, and the use of cholesterol medications in appropriate doses so that the harmful cholesterol is less than 55, and all this treatment explained the result, which is equal to the installation of stents, so the treatment must be adhered to exactly as described.

He said, that sudden heart attacks expose the patient to death, and a life support must be installed, because the size of the clot is large, so it is affected heart muscle.

And Dr. Magdy Abdel Hamid confirmed that the decline of the heart muscle resulting from a defect in ventricular diastole causes two approaches, swelling of the feet, and a feeling of extreme fatigue with the least effort, explaining that it occurs in women more than men, and its treatment in the past was difficult, and the patient needed treatment. Intermittent hospitalization.

He explained that there are modern medicines that have been used in these patients to improve their lives, while reducing deaths and reducing hospitalizations, adding that these medicines have improved the lives of patients, and the state has provided these medicines in health insurance and the state’s expense, and it is disbursed for free, explaining that heart muscle failure represents 2% of the population.
