PlayStation VR2: Players report major device control issues

Earlier this week, we finally had the launch of the long-awaited PlayStation VR2 (see our hands-on here), Sony’s new virtual reality device that promises to bring even more realistic and immersive games.

Unfortunately, some users of the device are reporting major issues with the controller.

As noted by Eurogamer, some Reddit users have been reporting issues with the PS VR2’s Sense controls. Players have noticed that in some games, X and R2 button commands (which are linked to the right Sense controller) are not registering correctly.

Anyone who has played a PlayStation game knows that the X is one of the most important buttons. X is normally used to accept/select things, perform actions and so on. R2 is normally associated with firing a gun or accelerating a vehicle, among other things. So, as you can imagine, this is quite problematic.

If you are also experiencing this issue, the Reddit thread is full of temporary fixes until PlayStation properly resolves the issue. It’s also worth noting that games like Gran Turismo 7, Tetris Effect, Thumper, Pistol Whip and Kayak VR seem to work fine as they can be played with the PS5’s default DualSense or work fine even if you’re having the issue with the VR2 controls .

Like any other release, it is normal for some technical issues to appear at launch, a risk that many early adopters are aware of, but it is very likely that PlayStation will fix this problem soon.

Have you picked up the PS VR2 yet, or do you intend to wait?
