How to Set a Strong Password on iPhone/iPad

One of the most essential things to do in any smartphone worth its salt is the inclusion of a unlock password — as no one wants to leave their personal and financial data free for anyone to access.

After enabling a passcode, this will also enable data protection (with this, iPhone data is encrypted using 256-bit AES encryption). It also needs to be entered when the iPhone or iPad does not recognize your fingerprint (Touch ID) or your face (Face ID), worth noting.

To keep your devices always protected, check out how to change and set a strong passcode on iPhone/iPad below! ????

Open Settings and go to “Face ID & Passcode” or “Touch ID & Passcode”. If you already have a password, enter it first.

Then, go to “Change Code”, enter the old password and then the new one. For more password options, select “Code Options” and choose one of them. According to Maçã, the safest are “Custom Alphanumeric Code” e “Custom Numeric Code”.

It is recommended that you do not use the four-digit numerical option. This is the most insecure of all.

When will I need to enter this password manually?

At certain times, you will be required to enter your registered unlock code. Are they:

  • When the iPhone/iPad restarts.
  • When you haven’t unlocked your device for more than 48 hours.
  • When you haven’t unlocked your iPhone/iPad with the code in the last 5 days and haven’t unlocked it with Face ID or Touch ID in the last 4 hours.
  • When the device has received a remote lock command.
  • When trying to unlock the device with Face ID or Touch ID five times without success.
  • When trying to use the Emergency SOS feature.
  • When viewing your Medical ID from the locked screen.

Simple, no?! ????
