Ms. Ruenwadee Suwanmongkol, secretary-general of the SEC, said, “The SEC recognizes the importance of developing Islamic financial markets and Islamic mutual funds in Thailand to meet religious standards and be accepted by the SEC. internationally accepted In Thailand, the first Islamic mutual fund was established in 2004 and currently there are 6 Islamic mutual funds with a net asset value of 2,145 million baht with a total number of investors of 6,526 people, while Thailand has a Muslim population of approximately 4 million people. Islamic finance therefore has a great opportunity to grow. This is in accordance with the resolution of the Capital Market Supervisory Board No. 2/2023 dated February 21, 2023 to ensure Muslim investors that investing in Islamic mutual funds complies with Islamic principles.
