Boeing is again suspending 787 deliveries to check a component in the plane’s fuselage

This new suspension of deliveries is a disappointment for the giant group, which resumed deliveries of this type of aircraft in August following a hiatus of more than a year.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement that Boeing was “conducting additional analysis of a component of the aircraft’s fuselage.”

“Deliveries will not resume until the FAA is satisfied that the problem has been resolved. The FAA is working with Boeing to determine if there are any actions that need to be taken for the newly delivered aircraft,” the statement added.

The FAA statement quoted Boeing as saying that it had discovered during an audit that its supplier had made an “analytical error” related to the forward pressure barrier of the 787 aircraft, indicating that the suspension of deliveries of these aircraft comes at a time when Boeing completes the required analysis and documentation processes.

For his part, a Boeing spokesperson confirmed that the problem that was discovered “does not constitute an immediate source of concern for aviation safety for the fleet in service” currently, indicating that the production of this type of aircraft will not stop.

He added that Boeing does not expect this development to lead to a delay in production and deliveries scheduled for this year.

Immediately following the Federal Aviation Administration published its statement, Boeing shares fell 3.1 percent to $201.75 in following-hours trading.
