NHL: CH claims Chris Tierney on waivers

The Montreal Canadiens claimed forward Chris Tierney off waivers.

Tierney, 28, was waived yesterday by the Florida Panthers, with whom he signed a one-year, two-way offseason deal following spending four seasons with the Ottawa Senators.

According to our reporter Patrick Friolet, Tierney will join the Canadiens tonight in Philadelphia. He will be at the team’s morning practice on Friday and might make his evening debut once morest the Flyers.

The 6-foot-1 winger has appeared in 13 games for the club this campaign, collecting two goals and three points.

He also scored 3 goals and 16 points in 20 games with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

His last game in the NHL dates back to February 18, once morest the Nashville Predators.

Drafted 55th overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 2012 auction, Tierney has scored 75 goals and had 229 points in 574 career games with the Sharks, Senators and Panthers. He also had five goals and seven assists in 40 career playoff games on the Bettman League.
