Zelda Tears of the Kingdom could sign the return of this mythical character from the license!

From May 12, Zelda fans will be able to immerse themselves in this next opus entitled Tears of the Kingdom. Although the Nintendo teams have been very discreet regarding the game’s plot, a few elements have recently been revealed during a Nintendo Direct. On the program: formidable new opponents, new vehicles and an exploration of the mysterious undergrounds of Hyrule. As you will have understood, the sequel to Breath of the Wild promises its share of new adventures. Regarding the production, rumors are rife and many players believe that a key character from the license who was seen in The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword will make a comeback. Is it really possible?

No news from Fi

Fi first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Wii. in 2011. It is a humanoid spirit created by the goddess Hylia to reside in the Master Sword and thus accompany the hero in the green tunic in his quest once morest the demons. At the end of this opus (without spoiling you too much), Fi will separate from Link while the Master Sword will return to the Temple of Hylia to wait for the next hero who will need her. This therefore implies that the Master Sword, Link’s sword, is truly mind-bound. However, Fi did not appear in other opuses of the license…

In Breath of the Wild, the game makes several references to its existence. Zelda herself mentions a voice she hears coming straight from the Master Sword and asks Link if he can hear it. On several occasions, especially following the end of the dreaded trials of the sword, the latter shines and we can hear a sound effect characteristic of Fi, which Skyward Sword players quickly recognized.

Fi’s return in Tears of the Kingdom?

It was in the trailers for the latest installment that some users were able to spot elements indicating a possible return of Fi. In these trailers, the Excalibur sword appears to have been destroyed. If we combine this information with the intervention of Zelda praying to ‘anyone who lends his strength to Link’it is quite possible that Fi was freed from the master sword and what the spirit is now in Link’s arm. Which would explain the unusual appearance of our hero’s forearm.

In addition, many fans of the license point the finger the release schedule for Zelda productions. In 2021, Nintendo released The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD on the Switch. Although this remaster seemed to be the logical continuation of the series following the release of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD on Wii U, this timing would be more than a coincidence. Some think that the Japanese company would have prepared its players for the return of Fi thanks to this HD opus. Is Fi’s return to Tears of the Kingdom imminent?
