At around 2pm on February 22, the fishing boat was operated by two fishermen Nguyen Van Vinh (47 years old) and Vo Quang Bac (51 years old, living in village 4, Gio Hai commune, Gio Linh district). When accessing the area of Cua Viet port, there was a problem and was sunk by the waves.
Two fishermen fell into the sea, clinging to the floating part of the boat. The waves were so big that it was difficult to hold on to this position, causing many people and relatives of the crew members present on the shore to be very worried.
After receiving the information, Mr. Vo Quang Lanh (40 years old, in Trieu An commune, Trieu Phong district) immediately brought the fishing boat QT-92459TS to the rescue. The two fishermen were later rescued by Mr. Lanh and brought to the fishing boat safely.

At 16:30 pm on the same day, the fishing boat of fisherman Nguyen Duc Huan (41 years old, living in Quarter 5, Cua Viet town) also encountered an accident, sinking the boat.
The fishing boat QT-94015TS of Mr. Bui Dinh Hien (in Quarter 5, Cua Viet town) came to the rescue and brought Mr. Huan aboard. However, the waves at the shoreline this evening were very large, making it difficult and dangerous for boats to return to shore.
After the fishermen monitored the tide and the tide was stable, at regarding 6:15 p.m., two boats came to the rescue and brought the fishermen to safety.
Major Nguyen Van Anh, Politician of Cua Viet port border guard station, said that functional forces are preparing plans to join fishermen to salvage two boats sunk ashore.
