On Wednesday, the Sportsnet network learned that the 30-year-old athlete had undergone surgery to treat an injury to his right foot. For the moment, the length of the forward player’s absence is not known.

Johansen was hit Tuesday night in a 5-4 shootout win over the Vancouver Canucks. The hockey player left the Bridgestone Arena on crutches and wore a protective boot.

“He’s one of the guys that keeps this team motivated on and off the ice. It’s very hard to lose a guy like him. We’re going to have to take responsibility while he’s on the sidelines,” forward Matt Duchene told the media following the duel once morest the Canucks.

Currently, Johansen is the Preds’ fifth-leading scorer. The veteran hit the target 12 times and provided 16 assists for 28 points in 55 games.

The Nashville club will return to action on Thursday night when they visit the Sharks in San Jose. Heading into Wednesday’s National League matchup, the Predators were ranked fifth in the Central Division. They were seven points behind the team that holds the last playoff spot.
