Shortage of medicines and relocation of production to France

If the commitments of the Minister of Health, François Braun, materialize, the shortage of amoxicillin should end in France during the month of February. The country regularly faces stock-outs, which recently concerned this class of antibiotics, such as paracetamol; essential medicines, especially in times of winter infections in children.

This shortage has led to pharmacies being once more authorized by the National Medicines Safety Agency to manufacture certain missing products in pharmacies, such as these pediatric antibacterials. Minister François Braun also announced the launch of a “white drug plan”, to avoid the recurrence of this type of supply crisis, which is far from being occasional.

Why these shortages? What potential health risks? Why is relocation, which we talked regarding a lot during the health crisis, still not relevant? Priorité-Santé takes stock.
