Julian Nagelsmann had insulted the referee team as a “softened pack”.
Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann got away with a mild sentence and no suspension following his verbal outburst last weekend in the Bundesliga. The sports court of the German Football Association has imposed a fine of 50,000 euros on the 35-year-old. As the DFB announced on Wednesday, the FC Bayern coach has already approved the verdict.
After the game at Borussia Mönchengladbach (2:3) last Saturday, Nagelsmann made unsportsmanlike comments to Tobias Welz’s team of referees in the dressing room. “Since he had not yet appeared before the sports court, apologized that same evening and also showed insight in the statement to the control committee, the committee refrained from applying for an indoor ban,” the message said.
The head coach of the German record champions apologized for his massive criticism of referee Welz the evening following the incident. Nagelsmann’s anger was triggered by a red card once morest Bayern’s French central defender Dayot Upamecano. In a ZDF interview, he admitted that when he broke out, the expression “softened pack” was also made. On Sunday, Munich will meet Union Berlin, who have the same number of points, in the top game.
