After the capital, Damascus, witnessed on Saturday night the second Israeli targeting during the new year 2023, informed sources revealed the details of that strike.

An informed “government” source reported that the Israeli raids targeted a secret meeting that included technical experts from the Syrian Guard with engineers from the Syrian regime’s army, to discuss a program for the production of drones and guided missiles, run by the Revolutionary Guard, according to what Archyde.com reported today, Wednesday.

However, the source clarified that these raids did not lead to the death of any high-ranking Iranian expert.

Hidden missile program

In addition, he indicated that the raids targeted a center where they used to meet regularly, as well as a residential apartment, which led to the killing of a Syrian engineer and another Iranian official.

In turn, another source confirmed that one of the dead was a civilian engineer in the regime’s army, working in the “Scientific Studies and Research Center” in Kafar Souseh, which Western countries consider a military institution working on the production of chemical weapons.

Another security source revealed that an engineer from the Revolutionary Guards involved in the Iranian missile program was seriously injured and transferred to a hospital in Tehran, while two others were also moderately injured.

An informed regional intelligence source also indicated that the raids targeted part of a hidden missile production program run by the Revolutionary Guards in Syria.

In addition, another source indicated that the strikes targeted Iranian officials and members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

Where Imad Mughniyeh was killed

It is noteworthy that the building that was targeted in Damascus last Sunday is located in the heavily guarded Kafr Souseh neighborhood, where many Iranian security services are stationed, as well as an Iranian cultural center, according to residents of the area.

Perhaps most strikingly, one of Hezbollah’s most prominent leaders, Imad Mughniyeh, was killed in the same neighborhood in 2008, in a mysterious explosion.

It is noteworthy that Israel carried out hundreds of raids on Syrian territory during the past years, but it rarely adopted or announced them.

However, all successive Israeli governments have confirmed that they will not accept an Iranian presence near their borders, which threatens their security.
