Student drones can film, survey and rescue

More than 60 scientific products of students were presented in the 4th Stem Festival – Application of Science and Technology at Nguyen Du High School.

On the morning of February 22, Nguyen Du High School (District 10) held the finale of the 4th Stem Festival – Application of science and technology.

After a month of preparing products and participating in the preliminary round held on February 14 with more than 60 products, the organizers selected 14 works to compete in the final round.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu – Principal of Nguyen Du High School acknowledged that the theory and practice would be very close if we knew how to practice, without applying practical values, the lesson would be very dry.

“Intellectual playgrounds create conditions for children to develop their talents and strengths, and at the same time source and nurture knowledge and passion for them,” added Mr. Phu.

Each product idea will have a maximum of 5 participants. Regarding the prize structure, there will be 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 3 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes.

Winning the first prize in the contest, Nguyen Tri, class 12A10 said, has spent 4 years researching and learning regarding the FPV Drone product participating in this contest.

According to Tri, the FPV Drone product is an unmanned device, composed of Frame (frame), FC (flight control circuit), ESC (speed control circuit), Motor, Camera and finally the system signaling. This device can be applied in filming, performance, topographic survey, investigation and rescue.

Talking regarding the group’s consolation prize-winning smart Showroom product, Phuong Nghi, class 11A3 wishes that her products will be developed and applied more widely.

Nghi shared: “The product can be used in Showrooms, museums and in garages. With more time and investment, the product will certainly have the development you want.”

Ms. Vi, the instructor who supported the students in the competition, said that in order to complete a product with good results, the students must be really passionate and fully understand it.

“In order to present the product effectively, the students themselves must understand the operating principles, wiring, and write code…” – Ms. Vi said.

Nhi, the parent of Nhat Quang, who won the second prize in the contest, said: “I find today’s contest very interesting and meaningful to the children’s development. On my side, I always support him mentally, support him to develop his passions and dreams.”
