The noble gesture of Juanita Parra with the drummer of the Viña orchestra that was not seen on TV | Vineyard

Without a doubt, the 3rd night of the Viña del Mar Festival 2023 will be remembered as the day of Los Jaivas. Not only because it is part of the celebration of its 60 years as a group, but because an enthusiastic audience that was not intimidated by the time or the temperature accompanied them fervently until they came off the stage.

The people of Viña de Viña devastated the awards, even taking the keys to the city and becoming the first Chilean artists to receive the coveted platinum seagull, which until now had only been awarded posthumously to Isabel Pantoja, Luis Miguel and Lucho Gatica.

But despite the fact that this was her night, when leaving Quinta Vergara, Juanita Parra made a detour to greet the orchestra led by maestro Carlos Figueroa, and to reach the young drummer of the group, with whom she shared a few brief moments from a distance. words.

The meeting was not caught on television cameras, so BioBioChile came up to Javiera Farias Velizdrummer of the orchestra, to ask him regarding the exchange with the daughter of the late Gabriel Parra.

“(Juanita Parra made) a recognition of my work. She is a drummer and an incredible woman who has always broken barriers and stereotypes, so the fact that she had some words of affection and love for me makes me very happy,” said Farías.

The drummer added that “it was unexpected because they just finished an incredible show in La Quinta making the monster vibrate, but she – very humble, affectionate and respectful – approached the entire orchestra and had very nice words for me”, indicated the young, who since 2019 is part of the Festival orchestra.

For her part, Juanita Parra also referred to this gesture, pointing out not only how important it is to have a live orchestra in the contest –following the controversy over the attempt to replace it with recorded tracks– but also that there are more and more battery women.

“(I wanted) to hug her, because this year more than ever we have to celebrate that the orchestra is here, playing live music. Only for a technical thing I didn’t get to be able to hug her “pointed out the artist.

Juanita Parra added that “Karol G also came with a drummer. It is a great happiness to see that there are more and more women in music and that there are more drummers. It’s a fascinating thing. The cutest and most incredible, however, are the ‘mini-drummers’, little girls between 6 and 10 years old who come to tell me their stories, give me drawings, and who already feel like drummers. It is something very beautiful. A great contribution to our country, ”she concluded.
