The police in the Brussels-Capital-Ixelles area made a big catch last weekend. She discovered 24 kilos of cannabis and 16,000 ecstasy pills in an apartment on rue du Craetveld in Neder-Over-Heembeek. Here’s what happened.
“On the evening of Saturday February 18, a patrol suspected the sale of narcotics in a building located rue du Craetveld. The inspectors decided to monitor the building. They did not have to wait long before seeing a first car stop near the building. The passenger of the vehicle then entered the building, came out a few minutes later and got back into the car. The vehicle immediately took to the road”, details the Brussels police zone.
“Two of the observing inspectors then decided to intercept the car and carry out a check. The passenger will state that he had just purchased 25 grams of marijuana. The driver as well as the passenger were deprived of their liberty. Later that evening, a second car pulled up in front of the building. The driver entered the building and exited following a few minutes. He returned to his vehicle and was then intercepted by two inspectors. He will declare that he bought 25 grams of marijuana.
The police managed to locate the dealers’ apartment and conducted a search, with the support of the anti-aggression squad. 23.953 kilograms of cannabis, approximately 16,000 ecstasy pills, 7,950 euros in cash and a banknote counter were seized. Two people were in the apartment, but are not the legitimate tenants. They were arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities. They were placed under arrest warrant by the investigating judge.
