The Argentine Football Association (AFA) today reviewed its long and prolific history on its official site on the 130th anniversary of its first foundation this Tuesday.
The celebration, like a mark of destiny, surprises her just consecrated for the third time as world champion, in this case under the presidency of Claudio Fabian Tapiaformal successor to the man who held that position for the longest time, 35 years old, Julio Humberto Grondona, between 1979 and 2014, when he died on July 30, at the age of 82.
Tapia, stressed that the celebration of the 130th anniversary of the first foundation of the organization that he presides over and which are celebrated today, finds them “in an exciting moment.”
“We have entered history once more. We achieve sporting achievements dreamed of by any federation, player and coaching staff. We are world champions, Qatar was a great tournament and I think our team has been superior to the rest. I don’t think that in the history of the World Cups there has been a final as exciting as the one we played once morest France. That is why this anniversary finds the AFA in an exciting moment”, said Tapia.

“From the history of the AFA I highlight many things such as solidarity, the football that has been displayed throughout the country and in all competitions, in addition to the two titles that were won worldwide before I became president (1978 and 1986), as well as the one achieved by the women’s team so many years ago (2006 South American champion), an objective where we should aim and we are working towards that”, Tapia told the official Afista website.
And regarding his management, he maintained that it was achieved “for the second consecutive World Cup with the women’s team, but also to score the first goal in a World Cup. Many World Cups passed and we were able to compete once more in that elite. Meanwhile, the youth categories, women’s professional soccer and the federal tournaments that have been taking place are also important aspects of this administration.?
“But the work does not stop and I would like to change several things to continue modernizing and professionalizing our football. We are going to do that with time, with great maturity and responsibility. We are undergoing some changes, such as achieving an elite league with 22 teams, making more inclusive, federal and increasingly competitive tournaments, ”he pointed out.
“We fulfilled a dream but we are going for more. We want to achieve a World Cup with the women’s team, to be champions of the Copa América and the World Cup with the men’s team once more, and for all of Argentine football to continue to grow,” concluded “Chiqui” Tapia, from San Juan, 55, in another day of celebration for Argentine soccer.
