Additional booster dose of a COVID vaccine

HEALTH

A booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for some people.

The CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent informs the population that the Quebec Immunization Committee recommends a booster dose of a vaccine once morest COVID-19 for certain people.

The booster dose with a bivalent vaccine is recommended for the following people who have not had COVID-19 and whose last dose was administered for at least six months, regardless of the product previously used:

  • people residing in CHSLDs, RPAs or living in other collective settings with a high proportion of seniors and vulnerable people;
  • people aged 60 and over;
  • people aged 5 and over who are immunocompromised or on dialysis, or considered to be at high risk of complications (even if they have already had COVID-19);
  • healthcare workers;
  • adults living in remote and isolated regions.

This booster dose with a bivalent vaccine can still be given to people aged 5 to 59 in good health who wish to receive it, whether or not they have already had COVID-19. The interval of at least six months following the last dose received, or following having COVID-19, must however be respected.

For people who have not completed their primary vaccination, it is still possible to receive these doses at one of the eight vaccination centers located in the MRCs of Kamouraska, Rivière-du-Loup, Témiscouata, Basques, Rimouski -Neigette, Mitis, Matapédia and Matanie.

The CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent reminds you that the recommended number of doses varies according to the age, medical history and state of health of each person. The patient’s vaccination schedule will be assessed during their visit to one of the COVID-19 vaccination clinics. Appointments can be made via Clic Santé or by phone at 1-877-644-4545. It is also possible to come without an appointment during opening hours. The clinic schedule is available on the CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent website.
