The Chilean Vicente Fernandez was the last passenger to join workshops, being registered on the last day of the pass market. The 23-year-old left-back has already been part of the squad for the last two games, although he hasn’t added any minutes yet.
This Tuesday he gave his first press conference as a Matador player and told how his arrival at the club was. “It was all very fast. They had told me that the interest was there, but it was not until the last day of the market that they told me that the offer was there and it was given on the same day. I did not doubt it for a second, I am happy to be here, ”he assured.
Regarding his first days in Argentine soccer, Fernández confessed that it was difficult for him to adapt to the rhythm. “I arrived and Portillo is playing in that position. I come to contribute from wherever I touch. I had a couple of days to adapt to what Argentine soccer is, which is very physical, very intense, this team above all. Now I am full and I am ready to compete for a position. I am very calm, ”he said.
“Physically the first days it was difficult for me, I was adapting. Afterwards I was holding his hand. I have not yet had the chance to enter and have a friction. I already feel good, I am one hundred and ready to compete, ”she added.
Vicente Fernández, with a past in Palestine, highlighted the group he met and the club’s facilities. “I met a very nice group, they received me a ten. I feel happy, calm, it is a very beautiful city. I am surprised with the club, it has first class facilities and everything necessary to be able to develop as a player”, he confessed.
“What I have seen of Talleres so far is very good. Football is at a high level and there are tools to go far. We know that we have the conditions to achieve great things. We are already focused on the game at the weekend”, added the defender.
Finally, he referred to the differences he notes between Argentina and Chile. “There is quite a difference with Chile. Here you live in a very different way, it moves a lot of people, it is passionate. The stadium fills up and that motivates me. There is a difference on a physical level and intensity. ‘Vitamin’ Sánchez gave me a little anticipation of all this that I said. He told me regarding the intensity of Argentine soccer, ”he said.
“The Argentine is a very competitive tournament, one of the best in South America. For Chilean players like me it should be a mandatory stop, you grow a lot”, assured Fernández.
“In Chile there is an image that Talleres is a big club. Things are going very well. Being here I realized that it is so, it is a reality, ”he said. “It was beautiful to play in a full stadium. It’s a difficult feeling to explain, it doesn’t happen much in Chile. It is one more motivation, you have to give it back to people. I am grateful to be able to live these moments ”, he closed.
