ORF cuts the radio symphony orchestra and Sport +

The ORF has to save, since 2 p.m. General Director Roland Weißmann has been announcing his proposals to the financial committee of the control body. A total of around 320 million euros are to be saved by 2026.

What is certain, according to the committee, is that the radio symphony orchestra will be saved. The orchestra, which is mainly dedicated to contemporary music, is said to cost around ten million euros a year. The special interest channel ORF Sport + will also become history, and some of the content will be transferred to digital media. The streaming formats Flimmit and Fidelio are also saved.

With regard to the future household fee, which will replace the GIS fee from 2023, no decisions have yet been made with regard to second homes and individual companies.
