Earthquake: Turkey suspends search, world

Istanbul:On Sunday, Turkey ended rescue operations in all but two of the areas affected by the earthquake on June 6. Yunus Ceser, head of Turkey’s disaster management agency, said only the provinces of Kahramanmaras and Hatay, where the epicenter of the earthquake was located, would be evacuated.

44,377 people died in the earthquake on the Turkey-Syria border. 40,689 people died in Turkey alone. Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said that 1,05,000 buildings were destroyed here.
