NEOS to Anderl: The chambers must also contribute to the relief

Loacker: “If the Chamber of Labor reduced its contribution rate from 0.5% to 0.4%, the employees would be relieved of more than 100 million euros in one fell swoop.”

Vienna (OTS) “Just as the Chamber of Commerce refuses to make its contribution to relieving the burden on entrepreneurs and to forego part of its income during the crisis, the Chamber of Labor also refuses to make any contribution to relieving the burden on employees,” says NEOS-Wirtschafts- und Social spokesman Gerald Loacker ORF-Pressestunde with AK President Anderl. “If the Chamber of Labor were to lower its contribution rate from 0.5% to 0.4%, the workers and employees in Austria would be relieved of more than 100 million euros in one go – and the AK would still have more income than in 2016. Instead the chamber bunkers 40 million euros in surplus every year. People who don’t know how to make ends meet financially don’t benefit from that.”

politics of the 1980s
But Anderl didn’t seem to have recognized the signs of the times either, according to Loacker. “The labor shortage is massive in all sectors. And the only thing the President of the Chamber of Labor can think of as an answer is ‘reducing working hours’? What was perhaps justifiable in the 1980s with strong increases in productivity is downright irresponsible in a phase in which Austria is increasingly losing productivity.”
