He is Argentine, he went to Miami to try his luck and fulfilled his dream, but he warns: “I avoid selling colored pieces of paper”

After meditating and thinking regarding it a lot, he completely transformed his life: Graduated from a career that wasn’t personally satisfying, looked for another job, found his true passion, and emigrated from his home in the Almirante Brown district, Buenos Aires, to another country. Eager to achieve a goal that he had in mind, Martín Seipel tried his luck in the United States and does not regret his decision. At the age of 30, he is in charge of the production of various video clips that important singers star in and surrounds himself with many people linked to the music industry. From a distance, he says: “I’m living a waking dream.”

Concerns, questions and a desire for more was what the young man felt every time he woke up. He knew that he was going to go far in the field and in 2016 his activities finally turned 180 degrees. At his young age -23 years old at the time- he received an email from a Disney producer who was interested in seeing some videos that he shared on his Instagram account, where he showed part of his trips to exotic places. There, he began working with the company and collaborated in well-known series such as Bia.

“At that time I started traveling alone to different parts of the worldAt the time it was much easier with a stable job, single and without children, to pay for a trip to any destination at least once a year,” he recalled in dialogue with LA NACION.

Simultaneous to these experiences, Martín completed his studies as a Public Translator of English, a career that he never practiced because as soon as he finished university he became fascinated by the audiovisual field. However, he admits that it was the best tool he took with him when he emigrated to Miami, the place he chose to further exploit his trade as a producer.

“The main reason was for professional growth, because The United States is the mecca of audiovisual production and in terms of the time zone it seemed much more comfortable than emigrating to Australia, for example, which was one of the options I had in mind”, he was honest.

Although his project was already on track, not everything was easy. To achieve this, he saved for years and had to face his greatest fears. “It was a difficult decision, but one that I had been processing for several years. Emigrating to another country is starting over from scratch in every wayThe first few months you don’t have anyone to call if you need a hand to move, for example, or any kind of help,” he said.

While in the country that saw him grow up, Martín was already enjoying his passion, in Miami he found an even better setting: “I dedicate myself to making video clips and commercials. In Argentina I worked for many years with pop and urban genre artists: Duki, MYA, Ruggero, Tiago PZK, Emilia Mernes, Khea, Lit Killah. Many of the times they visit Miami we try to film something if we can”.

As for what he enjoys the most regarding the city located in southeast Florida, he stressed that the main thing is the job projection it brings him. “In the last year, and up to the present, I work alongside Rauw Alejandro as its creative director. An artist that I admired a lot, but that I never imagined working with him. Throughout 2022 we had the opportunity to produce locally in Miami, New York, Texas, California, and we even did productions in Asia and Europe”, he stressed.

If there is something in which Seipel was also fascinated, it is in the treatment he received from the celebrities with whom he works. “For example, with Rauw we make a good creative combo, we have many twists and turns before each video, it is in all the details. Accustomed to seeing international stars and artists, any normal person imagines that they are the opposite and it is a war of egos, but He highly respects my profession and that of anyone who works alongside him, he is a professional through and through. I practically don’t see him rest, and that motivates me a lot to continue creating with him,” he said.

As he recounted, his days there seem to be the replica of a real movie. Not only because you know all the emblematic points, enjoy the landscapes, the crystalline beaches and receive the warmth of the people, but because you never know what the day holds for you: “At the beginning of 2023 we released a video of Rauw and Daddy Yankee, to date was my largest production. If you told me this 2 years ago, when I was still in Argentina, I wouldn’t believe it. I’m living a waking dream.”

Although the opinions of expatriates are diverse when it comes to talking regarding the economy of Argentina and comparing it with the countries where they are, stated that fortunately he never had any major difficulties regarding this issue: “My life was quite similar to the one I lead now in Miami, following the pandemic my work became 80% of home office”, explained Martín, who is also part of the Sony Music company.

On the other hand, he said that even though today he enjoys the radical change of life, there are several moments when you look forward to reuniting with your loved ones: “Beyond that, I also miss living in community. I go back to the country regarding 4 or 5 times a year, but one of the last times I went for a walk in my neighborhood and I saw people talking on the corners, enjoying the squares, groups of friends gathered, simple things. Here everything is a little colder”.

The producer uses his Instagram to display some facets since his arrival abroad and, in turn, uses it as a space to share advice and anecdotes. As he pointed out, for him it is like a kind of portfolio of work and experiences that he has every day. “Unlike many people who decide to emigrate I avoid selling colored pieces of paper that living in another country is the solution to all your problems. Honestly, each situation is different, but if you get enough training and don’t wait for opportunities to come by themselves, there is no ceiling”, he clarified.

As a way of reflecting on all the steps he has taken so far, he turned to those who have the same goal that he accomplished.

“I feel that Argentines were born with the ability to solve short-term problems and find innovative solutions, thinking outside the box. But, as I said earlier, When it comes to going out into the world, you must have to offer different skills and tools to be able to growAt least understand the language of the place we are going to”, he concluded.

Currently, in addition to working on what he loves, he is embarking on new adventures and getting to know more and more celebrities from the music scene. Her plan, for the future, is to motivate other people to undertake a similar experience and make it clear that, with effort and care, the objectives are met.
