As reported on our website on Thursday followingnoon, a violent collision involving two vehicles occurred, the same day around 3:30 p.m., at the crossroads of the Chaussée de Frasnes and the Rue de la Borgnette, in Froyennes. One of the vehicles had obviously not obeyed the red light and one of the two drivers was seriously injured and had to be taken care of by the emergency services.
According to the testimonies collected on the spot, one of the two drivers seemed to be a very young boy who, despite the shock he too had endured, had got out of the vehicle alone before heading on foot towards Tournai without waiting for the services of rescue and law enforcement.
And for good reason, the young man in question – who was fairly quickly intercepted by the police – is actually only 12 years old, as confirmed this Friday by the Tournai prosecution.
“He was brought before the juvenile judge, who took various measures once morest him. These, in accordance with what the legislation allows because of the very young age of the person concerned, will not be further developed”said the first substitute Frédéric Bariseau in a press release.
Some sources mention the fact that the vehicle in which this young man was driving was stolen in the Collines region, but this information has not been officially confirmed.
