FPÖ pulls away in polls, SPÖ and ÖVP on par

According to a survey by the opinion research institute Unique Research for the current issue of “profil”, the SPÖ and ÖVP are equal at 24 percent. The People’s Party was able to gain two percentage points compared to January, the Social Democrats remained the same. At the top, the FPÖ was able to extend its lead by one percentage point to 29 percent. Behind them are the Greens (-2) with 10 percent, level with the NEOS (+1). Unique Research surveyed 800 people in a combination of telephone and online interviews. The maximum range of fluctuation is +/- 3.5 percent.

In a survey by the Lazarsfeld Society for the daily newspaper “Österreich”, the SPÖ is still clearly ahead of the ÖVP. Here the SPÖ is also shown with 24 percent (+1 compared to the previous week), but the ÖVP with only 19 percent (+/-0). Here, too, the FPÖ is at the top with 28 percent (-1). The Greens and the NEOS are tied here with 11 percent each. In this survey, the beer party is also asked, which is reported at 6 percent. Lazarsfeld conducted 2,000 online interviews on February 13 and 14, the range of fluctuation is given as +/- 2.2 percent.

Incidentally, the opposition’s demand for quick new elections does not have a majority. In the Unique Research survey, 39 percent are in favor of new elections “as soon as possible”, 47 percent believe that the government should continue working.
