Presentation of the missions

Health and safety technicians perform functions that require technical skills in the following areas of activity:

1° Control of health products in the laboratory;

2° Health-environment prevention.

Without prejudice to the provisions of the Public Health Code, health and health safety technicians participate:

1° To carry out the work entrusted to the scientific laboratory staff for the control of health products. They ensure, in particular, the practical organization, the realization and the report of the tests and analyzes for which they are responsible;

2° To missions of health surveillance of environments and ways of life, to preventive actions carried out in this field and to the administrative and technical control of the hygiene rules referred to in the Public Health Code.

For the exercise of the missions mentioned in the public health code, they bear the title of health technician.

Health and safety technicians who fulfill the conditions allowing the professional use of the title of dietician can also contribute to the control of the nutritional quality of food served in the community as well as to public health prevention activities falling within the scope nutrition.

Principal technicians and chief technicians are intended to occupy jobs in the fields of activity mentioned above which require specific qualifications sanctioned by a level of expertise acquired through initial training, professional experience or vocational training. throughout life. They may be required to direct and coordinate the work of technicians and to supervise a team.

Access conditions

Required conditions :

The body of sanitary and sanitary security technicians includes three grades thus called:

1° Technician;

2° Senior Technician;

3° Chief Technician.

Recruitment through the third competition for access to the grade of senior technician is open to candidates who can prove, on 1 January of the year of the competition, the exercise for at least four years of one or more of the professional activities or one or more of the mandates mentioned in 3° of article 19 of law n° 84-16 of January 11, 1984, as amended, containing statutory provisions relating to the State civil service.

The professional activities taken into account for this competition must have been exercised in fields corresponding to the missions devolved to second grade civil servants of the corps concerned. The periods during which the exercise of one or more activities or one or more mandates will have been simultaneous will only be taken into account for one reason.

Nature of the tests

Written eligibility test:

Resolution of a practical case from a technical file relating to the control of health products in the laboratory or to health-environment prevention depending on the field of activity chosen by the candidate at the time of registration. The file may be accompanied by several questions intended to put the candidate in a work situation. The file may include graphics as well as figures. It cannot exceed twenty pages (duration: three hours; coefficient 2).

Oral admission test

Interview with the jury aimed at assessing the acquired experience, the aptitudes and the motivation of the candidate to perform the duties corresponding to the grade of recruitment and the field of activity chosen by the candidate at the time of registration (duration: twenty minutes; coefficient: 2).

To conduct this interview, which starts with a presentation by the candidate on his professional experience of no more than five minutes, the jury has the curricula vitae of the eligible candidates;

Curricula vitae are submitted to the organizing department on a date set by order of the Minister responsible for health.

Resumes should not exceed two pages.

Only the interview with the jury gives rise to grading. The curriculum vitae is not graded.
