American actress Raquel Welch passed away “peacefully early Wednesday morning following a short period of illness” at the age of 82.
The late woman is credited with paving the way for contemporary action heroines in Hollywood films.
Born Jo Raquel Tejada in 1940, Welch grew up in California, where she won teen beauty pageants and later became a local weather anchor.
Welch rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s, when she was widely known for playing a bikini-clad cave woman in the movie One Million Years BC.
