Innviertlerin landed on the podium for the first time at the wind lottery in Rasnov

This World Cup competition for women ski jumpers will probably still cause discussions: From an Austrian point of view, the second competition on Saturday in Rasnow, which was canceled following one round, ended well. After the longest jump of the day (86.5 m), World Cup leader Eva Pinkelnig was only beaten by Norway’s Anna Odine Ström by 1.0 points, and Julia Mühlbacher from the Innviertel surprisingly ended up third in the wind lottery for the first time in her career podium.

For Pinkelnig’s first pursuer in the overall World Cup, the German Katharina Althaus, the competition ended in a lot of trouble. After waiting a long time, the round only ended following 100 minutes, she only landed at 72.5 meters in bad wind and thus in 22nd place. She complained accordingly in the outrun. In the final count, Althaus, who had won clearly ahead of Pinkelnig the day before, might still be missing these points in the hunt for the crystal ball. Pinkelnig now has 1,482 points, Althaus (1,202) lost ground.

“Another podium finish, that’s really impressive,” stressed Pinkelnig. The conditions were very difficult. “The track wasn’t good and the wind conditions were difficult. I’m all the more proud that I stayed cool. Now I’m really looking forward to the World Cup,” said the ÖSV ace.

Mühlbacher “totally overwhelmed”

Her compatriot Mühlbacher experienced an “incredible” day. “I never would have thought in my life that I would achieve my first World Cup podium today,” admitted the 18-year-old from Schalchen. And that in “very difficult” conditions and many wind interruptions. “I don’t even know what to say, I’m totally overwhelmed,” emphasized Mühlbacher.

With Jacqueline Seifriedsberger in eighth place, a third ÖSV jumper ended up in the top ten. Hannah Wiegele scored another point with 30th place.
