A three-year-old child died on Wednesday followingnoon following drowning in the Club Med swimming pool in Pointe-aux-Canonniers on Mauritius.
It was in a press release issued Thursday that the management of Club Med revealed the death of the young boy.
As reported by local media Zinfos Maurice, the little boy of French nationality, alone in the main swimming pool, struggled for four minutes until another child caught the attention of the lifeguard. Quickly admitted to a private clinic on the island, the child was transferred to Reunion where he unfortunately might not be saved.
After viewing images from the hotel’s surveillance cameras, the 18-year-old lifeguard was charged on Tuesday with negligence before being released on parole. Following the death of the young child, he risks being accused of manslaughter.
