Skiing – Worlds: Wendy Holdener perfectly launched for a slalom medal – rts.ch

Wendy Holdener is on track to win her third medal at the Courchevel/Méribel World Championships. The Schwyzoise signed the 2nd time during the 1st round of the slalom. Gold is within reach of the Swiss, who was the only one to resist the American Mikaela Shiffrin. The 2nd round will be followed from 1:30 p.m. on RTS 2.

A Holdener-Shiffrin duel? It is in any case the observation that we are entitled to draw following the first passage of the athletes. Very precise on the picket, voluntary as since the start of these French Worlds, Wendy Holdener is only 0″19 behind the American who is aiming for a 5th world crown in the discipline in… 6 participations.

With her 2 silver medals, the skier from Unteriberg seemed almost liberated. But he still missed a little something to get ahead of the lady with 85 World Cup successes and brand new world giant champion.

Behind the duo, we find the Canadian surprise Laurence St-Germain at 0”61 who will have to fight to get on the podium with two major huntresses in the rear view mirror: Lena Dürr at 0”92 and Petra Vlhova at 0′ ’99.

Danioth in the top-10, Gisin misses out

Good performance in the Swiss camp also for Aline Danioth. The skier from Andermatt is in 9th place at 1”45. Very solid on the top of the track, the Uranaise lost some time on the bottom.

The other two Swiss are further away. Camille Rast is only 21st at 2”08. While Michelle Gisin experienced a new disillusionment. The Obwalden, who almost lost a stick, failed to break into the top-30.
