Emirates News Agency – Mohammed Al Sharqi witnesses the opening of the Fujairah International Monodrama Festival…and praises its goals

FUJAIRAH, 18th February, 2020 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, affirmed the role of cultural projects in raising the awareness and development of societies, and their importance in supporting the culture and arts sector in the country and advancing it towards global horizons.

This came during the presence of His Highness, the opening ceremony of the Fujairah International Monodrama Festival, in the presence of Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Sheikh Saif bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Free Zone Authority, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi and Sheikh Sultan bin Saleh. His Highness, the Crown Prince of Fujairah, referred to the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Muhammad Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, for the theatrical work sector in general, and the art of monodrama in particular, and the Fujairah government’s interest in highlighting the initiatives that support the advancement of the theater, highlight its various social and human values, and advance the performing arts on world level.

His Excellency Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Emiri Diwan in Fujairah, President of the Festival, delivered a keynote speech during the ceremony, in which he emphasized that the festival has become a landmark in the Arab region and the world in the theater sector, due to the clear contributions it made over the course of ten sessions that supported the performing arts and contributed to their global spread.

Tobias Bianconi, Director General of the International Theater Association, delivered a speech in which he praised the efforts of the Fujairah government in supporting the theater sector, and the activities of the International Theater Association’s World Congress at the global level, stressing that this hosting constitutes a new step towards strengthening the status of theater in the Arab region and the world.

Then the Syrian artist, Jamal Suleiman, gave a speech on behalf of the festival’s guests, in which he emphasized that the Fujairah International Monodrama Festival has renewed the theater’s lofty status, and its first place among the human arts, to bring the world together on the land of Fujairah, and push the theatrical scene towards renewed horizons of proposition and serious work.

The opening ceremony included a lyrical and dance performance entitled “Fujairah in the Eyes of Travelers”, presented by the Syrian Dance Theater Enana Ensemble.

The Fujairah International Monodrama Festival will continue from February 17 to February 24, with the attendance of 500 guests, artists, and the most prominent leading personalities in the field of performing arts and theater from different countries of the world, and with theatrical performances from 30 countries, presented by the most important artists of the one-actor theater.

It also includes, during the period from February 20-24, the Emirate of Fujairah, for the first time in the Arab world, to host the activities of the International Theater Association’s World Congress and the Theater Summit, to discuss and discuss the most important issues of contemporary theater and the challenges of the performing arts sector in the world.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Director of the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah, and a group of artists and playwrights from the Arab world and the world, and a number of Fujairah managers and officials.
