Faced with the growing difficulties of women to become pregnant, many complementary medicines have developed solutions, sometimes even adopted in the hospital. Before opting for a treatment, some basic biological knowledge can provide valuable information that considerably increases the chances of procreation.
Frequency… and timing
It seems obvious, but let’s remember: you have a better chance of getting pregnant if you have very regular sexual intercourse. Of the daily reports during the six days of your fertile window (three to five days before ovulation and up to one day following) are optimal. Even better than frequency, choose the right time. Studies show that having sex one to two days before ovulation is the perfect timing. To learn how to spot your ovulation, you can train yourself in cycle knowledge methods, such as symptothermy (see the resources at the end of the page to access free information).
The symptothermie, observing its cycle to multiply the chances
By learning to observe three signals from your body (temperature upon awakening, secretions and position of the cervix), you will know exactly when you are going to ovulate. This knowledge of the cycle coupled with reports at the right time can increase your chances of pregnancy by 10 to 30% et reduce design times by three !
A Danish study published in Fertility and Sterility in 2013 shows that, thanks to symptothermie and having intercourse at favorable times, women aged 35 to 40 increase their chances of conceiving within a year by 6%. If you’re not tracking your cycle, it’s best to have sex every other day following your period ends.

Plants and Ayurveda, better than antioxidants?

On the other hand, plants can help, in particular to mitigate the harmful effects of stress which promote infertility by disrupting the brain-ovary connection.
In some clinical trials, the rhodiole (Rhodiola rosea) to permissions of restore ovulation of women who no longer had menstrual cycles. THE shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), from the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia, also seems to improve hormonal imbalances induced by stress. Finally, a six-month Ayurvedic treatment using, among other things, shatavari enabled 62% of infertile patients suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome to conceive within three months, 75% within six months, and 85% within twelve months.

Osteopathy to the rescue of subfertility
After thirty years of clinical experience, Bernard Ferru, osteopath, created a course dedicated to fertility (cf. Osteopathy & Fertility, ed. tita). Thanks to a three-pronged approach, this osteopath from the Ile-de-France region claims to achieve, in patients with reproductive difficulties, 30-50% pregnancy rate. “The mechanical approach makes it possible, for example, to remobilize the ligaments of the uteruss whose mobility is sometimes restricted, which results in poorer vascularization. It also happens that tensions in the cranial box modify the hormonal secretions. The toxin approach goes, it, promote drainage toxins by the body via osteopathy of the viscera which helps to release emunctories such as the liver. Finally, the emotional approach [lire p. 14] is a bit like EFT or kinesiology. »
Unfortunately, confides the osteopath, in men, “more basic and mechanical” in its functioning, these practices have only one “very slight effect” on spermograms. To find an osteopath trained in this technique, you can go to Bernard Ferru’s website which he regularly updates.
