At Mercedes, the management carousel turns

At Mercedes-Benz, various positions in top management directly below the level of the Board of Management are being filled. Michael Schiebe will become CEO of Mercedes-AMG and head of the Top End Vehicle (TEV) Group at Mercedes in March. In his function, he will report directly to Executive Board member Markus Schäfer, who as Chief Technology Officer is responsible for development and purchasing. Schiebe succeeds Philipp Schiemer, who will build up the top-end customer and community management division at Mercedes-Benz and has worked for the group in Brazil for more than 18 years.

Oliver Thöne, currently Head of Production Planning Mercedes-Benz Cars, will succeed Wolf-Dieter Kurz as Head of Product Strategy & Steering on March 1. On April 1, Kurz will begin a new chapter in his life following 34 years with the company. Thönes Posten will take over from June Arno van der Merwe, CEO of Beijing Benz Automotive (BBAC) in China. Jörg Bartels will be in charge there in the future. He is currently still in charge of overall vehicle integration in the car development department. Bartels, in turn, will be replaced by the Head of e-Drive Development, Christoph Starzynski, and he will be replaced by Torsten Eder (Head of Powertrain Development).

Florian Hohenwarter, Head of Production Europe/Africa, changes industry and becomes Chief Operating Officer at Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. It is not yet known who will take over his post. Katrin Lehmann, currently Head of Customer Innovation and Maintenance at SAP SE, will join the management team in May. In the future, she will lead the newly created IT Research & Development, Security and Data department. (awm)
