Austria’s media authority describes the new offer as a “contribution to the legally required fulfillment of the social, democratic and cultural needs of the Austrian population”.
According to a decision by the media authority KommAustria, the ORF may in future supplement its online service “oe3.ORF.at” with the audiovisual service “Ö3-Live/Visual”. In the live stream of the radio program Ö3, the music part of the program is to be accompanied by music videos and the word part by a video stream, which allows users to look into the broadcasting studio from several camera positions. According to the authorities, the new offer contributes to the legally required fulfillment of the social, democratic and cultural needs of the Austrian population and to the effective provision of the core public service mandate.
