the IGF demands 20 billion dollars from Chinese companies – Jeune Afrique

On February 15, the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) published the final conclusions of the audit report commissioned by the President Felix Tshisekedi on the agreement signed in 2008 between Gécamines and the Group of Chinese Companies (GEC), which gave rise to the creation of the Congolese-Chinese joint venture Sicomines. Following this agreement, China became the first recipient of Congolese mining exports.

In 2021, the services of the Minister of Mines, Antoinette N’Samba Kalambayihad already submitted a report estimating that Chinese companies had not honored their commitments in return for the exploitation of copper and cobalt from the deposits held par Sicomines.
