New government in Moldova after warning of Russian coup

A few days ago, details regarding Russian plans for a coup in Ukraine’s neighboring country became public. A new government led by President Maia Sandu’s former security adviser has now taken office.

After the Prime Minister’s resignation, Moldova’s President Maia Sandu has proposed her security adviser as his successor. Dorin Recean was confirmed as Prime Minister on Thursday.

Moldova has had turbulent days: warnings of Russian plans to overthrow the country, the resignation of the head of government, a suspicious balloon in the sky and an entry ban for sports fans from the Balkans. But now the small country between Romania and Ukraine has a government once more. On Thursday the parliament in Chisinau confirmed the new Prime Minister Dorin Recean and his cabinet. What happened?
