The New York Giants had a dream season in 2022, no one expected head coach Brian Daboll‘s team to win nine games and make the playoffs in the NFC, even defeating the Minnesota Vikings in Super Wild Card Weekend as visitors and getting eliminated by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round.
They achieved all that without a receiver of real respect, their leader in the season was Darius Slaytonwho recorded 724 receiving yards and in terms of receptions, the leaders were the stellar running back Saquon Barkley and Richie James with 57.
Giants’ offseason priority: Get a WR1
With that situation so clear, it is paramount for Big Blue to get a true deep threat for opposing defenses and an important partner for quarterback daniel jonesso in the offseason looking for a WR1 might be a big priority for this NFC East team.
In that vein, Alex Ballentine of Bleachart Report, proposed a change that is extremely interesting for the G-men to become real contenders for Super Bowl LVIII, and this involves what is probably today the best player of the Arizona Cardinals.
The scenario for DeAndre Hopkins coming to the Giants
“The next step is to give him (Daniel Jones) a legitimate No. 1 target, and DeAndre Hopkins is a great fit. The 30-year-old only played in nine games in 2022 following serving a six-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy, and he still had 64 receptions for 717 yards in three touchdowns,” Ballentine said. “In other words, he was just regarding as productive as the Giants’ No. 1 receiver despite playing in seven fewer games. Playing with Hopkins might unlock another level for Jones.”
Ballentine’s proposal is for the Cardinals, who failed in 2022, to obtain a third-round pick from the Giants, which would seem to be a profitable deal for the Big Apple.
