Dakar, Feb 16 (APS) – The Minister of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Economy, Moussa Bocar Thiam, underlined, Thursday in Dakar, the need “to extend new communication technologies to all sectors of activity”, as part of the dematerialization of administrative procedures.

“Here, there is a need to extend new communication technologies to all sectors of activity, services, agriculture and justice, within the framework of the dematerialization of certain administrative procedures”, he added. he declares.

Me Thiam spoke with journalists on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the 6th edition of the International Exhibition of Professionals in the Digital Economy (SIPEN).

“The acceleration of digital transformation to strengthen the integration of the economy within WAEMU”, is the theme chosen for this event.

According to the Minister of Communication, the extension of new communication technologies to other sectors would make it possible to go “much faster in administrative procedures and other procedures”.

He welcomed the organization of this fair, which according to him, “allows the city of Dakar to be the African digital capital”.

Mr. Thiam also praised the community approach of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), which has set up an entity responsible for digital issues in the sub-region.

“This community approach, which makes it possible to anchor new technologies in all African countries, should not be done in a dispersed order. It’s better to do it together”, rather than seeing each country go its own way, a- he added.

“There must be the dematerialization of acts, formalities, procedures and all the existing devices, by setting up standards on barcodes, so that we know that we have arrived at a international system,” said digital expert Abdoullah Cissé.

He called for supervision and legislation in certain digital areas such as e-commerce, with a view to securing platforms and information and communication technologies for merchant services.

“For a sustainable emergence, it is necessary to consider having an up-to-date technological tool”, he concluded.
