Dr. Jad Al-Qadi, President of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research, stated that, according to astronomical calculations carried out by the Institute’s Sun Research Laboratory, the crescent of the month of Sha’ban will be born immediately following the conjunction occurs at exactly nine o’clock and 7 o’clock in the morning, Cairo local time, on Monday 29 Rajab 1444 AH. Corresponding to February 20, 2023 AD (Vision Day).
The institute’s statement added that the new crescent will remain for 17 minutes following sunset on that day (the day of sighting) in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Cairo, and in the rest of the governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the new crescent will remain in its sky for periods ranging between (16-19 minutes).
As for the Arab and Islamic capitals and cities, the new crescent will remain following the sunset of that day, for periods ranging between (11-29 minutes), and thus the start of the month of Sha’ban 1444 AH will be astronomically on Tuesday 21/2/2023 CE.
