- On the night of Wednesday February 15 to Thursday February 16, Russian forces launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Air Force and several regional officials. Russia fired “thirty-two cruise missiles”, sixteen of which would have been destroyed. “Some unfortunately hit their targets, hitting critical infrastructure”added the staff.
- Emmanuel Macron and the head of Chinese diplomacy, Wang Yiexpressed Wednesday, February 15, during a meeting in Paris, “the same objective of contributing to peace” in Ukraine “in accordance with international law”, said the Elysée. The Head of State and Wang Yi “discussed the war led by Russia in Ukraine and its consequences on the most vulnerable countries, particularly in terms of food security and financing capacity”according to the French presidency.
- The members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), meeting in Brussels during the week, embarked on Tuesday February 14 in a logistics race to speed up their deliveries of arms and ammunition to Ukraine. “The priority, the urgency, is to provide the Ukrainians with the armaments they have been promised to maintain their ability to defend themselves”insisted Jens Stoltenberg, the secretary general of the Alliance.
- Germany will send “half a battalion” of Leopard tanks to kyiv and criticizes Switzerland’s refusal to deliver ammunition. These fifteen tanks “will be delivered in the last week of March”, assured the German Minister of Defense while NATO is struggling to assemble the tanks promised in Kiev.
- The possible delivery of combat aircraft claimed by kyiv remains a subject of debate. It’s not “the most urgent question, but a discussion is underway”assured Jens Stoltenberg.
