Medical student died in Santa Marta after falling from a fifth floor

The death of the young man occurred in the tourist sector of El Rodadero, in Santa Marta.

The events occurred in the early morning of February 14, when a 20-year-old young man, identified as Richard Gerard Diaz Cujia, it fell from the fifth floor, hitting the ground of the Iroka building, located in the tourist sector of El Rodadero.

Richard was a medical student at the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia and had been living in Santa Marta for approximately three years. Originally from San Juan del Cesar, La Guajira, he was hanging out with some friends in the building Iroka, which is located in race 1 No 6-55, in the tourist area of ​​El Rodadero.

According to preliminary versions of the police, the young man and his friends had been in apartment 5D since February 13. At 6:00 a.m., Richard apparently fell off the balcony and crashed to the ground.. A guard, who had heard a loud noise, went out to make his rounds and found the lifeless body.

The man then called the police quadrant, who called the paramedics, but when they arrived at the scene Richard was without vital signs, because in the fall he suffered a lethal head trauma.

In conversations with El Heraldo, a friend of Richard’s confessed that she was with him on the balcony, when, at one point in the early morning, she decided to enter the apartment without realizing that Richard had not entered. A few minutes following the woman decided to go to sleep, security guards went up to apartment 5D to report the fall of the young medical student.

Despite the fact that the facts are still under investigation by the Sijin of the Santa Marta Metropolitan Police and has not ruled on the facts, hypotheses suggest that the young man decided to throw himself off the balcony. Also, the time of impact is in doubt, although it is believed to have been that of 5:00 a.m...
