Raquel Welch, actress of One million years before Christ (1966), in which she became famous as a sex symbol for her clothing, a deerskin bikini, died at the age of 82, the US media reported today.
According to relatives, Welch passed away following a sudden illness.
Since the 1960s and 1970s, she became one of the most sought-following actresses, receiving recognition for it: a Golden Globe for Best Actress of a musical or comedy feature film, for his role in The Three Musketeers (1974).
Was named one of the 100 sexiest stars in movie history for the magazine Empirein 1995, and also came in at number 3 on a similar list by Playboy magazine of the 100 Sexiest Stars of the 20th Century.
One of his last appearances on the big screen was in 2017, in the movie How to be a latin loverwith two main actors whom he called “fonidos”, Eugenio Derbez and Rob Lowe. “You can never have too much of a good thing! Sigh!” he said then.
One of his most memorable appearances, on the Cher show, in 1975, was to perform along with the singer the topic I’m a Womanof which he later made a funny version in the muppet showin a duet with Miss Piggy.
Welch was married four times, with James Welch, from whom he took the last name for the rest of his life, Patrick Curtis, Andre Weinfield and Richard Palmer. She had two children, Tahnee and Damon Welch.
nicknamed The body Because of her harmonious figure, Welch was of Latino ancestry. Her birth name was Jo Raquel Tejada. She was born in Chicago to an American mother and a Bolivian father (Armando Tejada Urquizo), and among his relatives is the former president of Bolivia Lidia Gueller Tejada.
In the cinema he shared stellar roles with Marcello Mastroianni, Frank Sinatra, James Stewart, Dean Martin, Burt Reynolds and Fernando Lamas. He embodied one of the deadly sins, lust, in comedy To the devil with the devil (1967).
He also made a career on Broadway, in titles like woman of the year y Victor or Victoria.
