The Bad Quebec Remake

Have you seen the number of remakes and reboots which will be released in the next few months?

It’s stupid.

One has the impression that all the great successes of the last decades will be entitled to a sequel or a revival.

It goes from The Exorcist To Beverly Hills Cop Passing by Indiana Jones, My Fair Lady, The Wild Bunch et Nosferatu.

Even The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson will be entitled to a sequel!

Dedicated, you guessed it, to the resurrection.

BÉ-BÉ-BÉGAIE QUEBEC

“We have the impression that we no longer know what to invent,” said my colleague from QUB Radio Alexandre Moranville-Ouellet. As if we had hit a wall, as if the source had dried up, and everything had already been said, written, imagined…”

That’s what Charles H. Duell, the commissioner of the US patent office, said in 1899: “Everything that can be invented has been invented”.

Mind you, it’s not just Hollywood that stutters.

Politics is also treading water.

Look at what is happening in Quebec.

What is the “nationalist federalism” of the CAQ government if not the remake of a film in which we have already played?

And who had, at the time, made potatoes?

We imagine the summary of this remake in the TV-Hebdo:

The Beautiful Risk (2023)

Directed by: Francois Legault.

Seeing that the sovereigntist option was at a dead end, the Quebec government decided to give federalism a chance and wrest powers from Ottawa.

“Second remake of René Lévesque’s classic, following the version that Robert Bourassa shot in 1987. Worn theme. Predictable scenario. Accomplishment to match. Artificial and unconvincing acting by the main performers. Grotesque histrionics by Justin Trudeau, who takes over the role played by his father in the original version released in theaters 43 years ago. Rated 6.”

MAO: THE RETURN!

“Madness, said Einstein, is doing the same thing over and over once more and expecting a different result each time. »

If so, Quebec is ripe for a long stay in asylum.

At least, in Bourassa’s version, there was real suspense: will the federalist PM bring regarding Quebec independence?

While here, we see the end coming from the first minutes.

François Legault will crash and take his hole. It’s written in the sky in red letters.

Same feeling of déjà vu in the intellectual milieu.

What is Wokism if not a hysterical and hysterical remake of Maoism from the 60s?

Reinvent the man in his deepest. Make a clean sweep of the past. Rebuild society on new foundations. To turn anyone who dares to criticize dogma into an outcast.

This psychedelic film played in all Western universities in the 1960s-70s. In a double program with The molede Jodorowsky.

Young people believe they have invented a new way of seeing the world, while their pseudo-revolution is to Mao’s Great Leap Forward what Star Wars was at The Hidden Fortress de Kurosawa.

Or Created Basil to Flintstones.

We think we are moving forward as we go around in circles.
