Moto G200: The smartphone that still impresses – Is it worth it in 2023?

Is it worth buying one Motorbike G200 in 2023? This is a smartphone released at the end of 2021, and the question is legitimate. After all, with the speed at which technology advances, it can be difficult to justify spending more than R$ 3 thousand on a device that is already entering its 3rd year of life. But to know if a smartphone is suitable for our needs, we need to balance the price and the benefits it offers. And this is where the Moto G200 shines.

Performance

Without a doubt, Moto G200 is one of the best gaming smartphones on the market. It has the powerful Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which ensures enviable performance. That was enough to warrant a 9.7 performance rating.

Plus, its presence on the best gaming gadgets shelf means it’s still a solid choice even two years following its launch. And even outside of gaming, the device delivers plenty of performance for everyday use.

The Moto G200 Display is of high quality, being a 6.8-inch IPS screen with FULLHD resolution. The big asset of the screen is the 144Hz refresh rate, which makes navigation and use of the cell phone very fluid. This also results in even smoother and more enjoyable gameplay. In addition, the display is perfect for watching movies or series.

cameras

The Moto g200 has a 108MP camera, another 13MP Ultrawide camera and a third lens for depth effects.

The Moto G200 is a camera authority. The main one has 108MP, but by default, you shoot at 12MP, thanks to the nonapixel system, which combines nine pixels into one. However, if you want to exploit the camera’s full capacity, you can use the 108MP, but it will consume more storage space.

The important thing is that the Moto G200 offers quality photos, with a balance between contrast, colors, definition and brightness. Night shots are also good, but naturally have some noise.

The front camera has 16MP with good results in daytime photos, but takes a little in the dark, which can result in natural noise. Overall it’s an excellent set of cameras.

The battery

We ran a rigorous battery test simulating everyday activities, but at a higher intensity, to assess how much screen time smartphones can handle during common tasks. However, the Moto G200, with 5000mAh, consumed 100% of the battery during our tests and might not complete the challenge, supporting only 6 hours and 36 minutes of use (compared to 7 hours and 45 minutes).

Although this was an insufficient result, it is unlikely that an average user will encounter problems during a day of conventional use. What’s more, the 33W fast charger only takes 1 hour and 26 minutes to fully charge the battery.

Updates

At the time of the review of this device, there was already talk of few updates for Android and how this might alienate potential new users of the Moto G200. However, in April 2022, device owners were able to experience a major update to Android 12, and can look forward to another update to Android 13 in 2023.

Price

The high price is the biggest obstacle to buying the Moto G200. It is a smartphone that is expensive for most Brazilian consumers. When it was launched, it reached a price close to R$ 5,000, but it has already reached its lowest historical price, falling below R$ 2,000.

Currently, the device is being sold for R$ 3,299, which is still considered high compared to its competitors. But there is hope for those looking for a good deal. It is important to be aware of the occasional promotions and discounts that are offered in online stores. Grab the opportunity and get the Moto G200 for a more affordable price!
